I’m a people person, so becoming a web developer was probably the last thing I would have imagined I’d be doing. Turns out, that’s precisely what I love about designing and developing websites: really seeing and understanding a person or business, so I can then recreate that experience in this medium that will be the gatekeeper for others to perceive them. The technical part is fun for me, getting to be creative with design is invigorating, but the people part, man, it’s a dream. These days I specialize in creating beautiful and fast Squarespace websites through my business, Shiny New Websites. I really love what I do. Hire me?

My story

When I was first learning to code, I joyfully stumbled through the process of building apps with Ruby on Rails, establishing an understanding of back-end development, although more often with a wandering eye towards the beauty of front-end.

My love for the creative side of dev work persisted and lead me to pursue more projects and classes in Visual Design, UX/UI and Front-end Development. I began taking on more clients who needed modern, responsive, static websites, first developing them from scratch, then using Wordpress, and eventually switching over primarily to Squarespace. This type of work was so fun for me that I started a business around pumping out awesome, high quality, and fast websites on Squarespace. I design and develop sites with a User-First approach, making sure the site aligns with the objectives and expectations of the user, providing a relaxing and joyful experience that will translate to the client’s business and properly reflect the experience they’d have in the real world.

Nina did a FANTASTIC job with our website! She was super organized throughout the whole process and she really brought our vision to life. WORDPRESS DEVELOPMENT

With a lot of specific needs for volunteer sign ups and donation coordination, along with a donation shop, this Wordpress site was built utilizing various plugins, including WooCommerce to resolve all of the necessarily functionality. The site made it easy for volunteers to learn more about the organization, find resources, make various types of donations, and sign up for different volunteer positions all in one place.

RUBY ON RAILS DEVELOPMENT

Wanting to take this movement off of Tumblr, TodayWasGreat.com needed a custom platform that allowed users to either post from their account, or anonymously, to share what was great about their day. While most Ruby on Rails work I’ve done has been in collaboration with other developers, this was a site I designed and developed independently.
